The Stagecoach Inn

About

The Stagecoach Inn, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was initially constructed in the middle of the nineteenth century as a rest area along the illustrious Chisholm Trail. Sam Houston, George Custer, and Jesse James are just a few of the notable 19th-century historical figures who traveled through the structure at various times. When Dion and Ruth Van Bibber converted this charming retreat into The Stagecoach Inn in 1943, it was at last a hotel. The Stagecoach Inn gained a well-deserved reputation for its endearingly rustic hospitality during the next decades. The wayside restaurant at the Inn, which still charms visitors with its hush puppies, chicken fried steak, and Strawberry Kiss dessert, was one of the reasons the inn received so much praise.
