The Sofia Hotel

About

Americans were moving more than ever by the 1920s. The development of touring autos, often known as “stage travel,” was extremely well received, particularly in San Diego. The Pickwick Stages eventually expanded to become one of the three main theater companies in the nation. The business bought land in downtown San Diego for a hotel and terminal because a sizable portion of its cars were assembled there. The Pickwick Hotel, which was built in 1926, was distinguished by its Gothic Revival design, crenellated roofline, and terra cotta accents. The property reopened as The Sofia Hotel after a significant refurbishment, maintaining its unique history while providing a contemporary sensibility and calm decor.
