The DeSoto

About

The DeSoto, which is located in Savannah’s historic center, has a long and illustrious history that dates back to 1890. The original DeSoto was constructed in 1890 on the site of Oglethorpe’s Barracks and was the town’s unremitting provider of hospitality, having housed celebrities, dignitaries, authors, and presidents. The hotel’s current building, which was finished in 1968, is one of the top full-service hotels in the Historic District and offers the ideal environment for leisure, business, and convention guests. A section of the hotel is devoted to The DeSoto’s history, giving guests a look into the establishment’s past. The hotel lobby’s original 1890 crystal chandeliers, which were originally referred to as “sparkling clusters,” continue to glow beautifully.
