Penn Wells Hotel

About

The Penn Wells Hotel, which was originally built in 1869 and refurbished in the 1920s, is a charming landmark on Wellsboro’s Main Street. The Philadelphia Inquirer, referring to the hotel’s location on the Historic Route 6 corridor between New York and Chicago, referred to it as “the Jewel of the Roosevelt Highway” in the 1920s. The hotel is renowned for its mahogany woodwork, towering ceilings, wood-burning fireplaces in the lobby, and for hosting notable visitors Joan Crawford and Groucho Marx. Miles of beautiful, quiet hiking and biking routes may be found nearby, including the renowned Pine Creek Rail Trail and the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. The hotel’s magnificent dining room, which hosts weddings, parties, and fine meals, is decorated with historical photographs.
