The oldest hotel still in operation in Yellowstone is Lake Yellowstone Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1891. Initially, the hotel was a simple, $46,000, three-story clapboard structure that offered the first-rate lodgings that customers requested, including indoor plumbing, electricity, steam heating, and stunning views of Yellowstone Lake. The Colonial Lake Hotel acquired its moniker as a result of painstaking repairs throughout time, which included the addition of more guestrooms, gables, recognizable columns, false balconies, and dormer windows. It is open from the middle of May till the end of September.
