Hayes Mansion

About

The Hayes House is one of San Jose’s premier vacation spots and is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
Mary Hayes Chynoweth, whose family created a name for itself mining iron ore in the Midwest during the 1880s, commissioned renowned architect George Page to create this iconic building for her. When the Hayes Mansion first appeared in 1905, it was completely self-sufficient, running its own power plant, post office, railroad station, carriage stop, and chapel. After undergoing a protracted sequence of renovations, the structure now serves as a beautiful hotel with more than 200 rooms and 33,000 square feet of conference space.
