The Francis Marion Hotel, which has been rebuilt, was originally built in 1924 as the Grand Dame of the Carolinas and named for the Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion. The hotel, which combines 1920s design with modern conveniences, is still a legendary building. The hotel, which rises 12 floors above King Street and the historic neighborhood, provides breathtaking views of Charleston’s antebellum homes and church steeples.
