School’s out for summer! But that doesn’t mean the academics cease completely. Many schools offer students the chance to be involved in academic camps during June, July, and August to continue stimulating young minds while providing a chance for unique recreation. While there are many venues to choose from, campuses always tend to be at the head of the class. There are the obvious reasons—colleges and universities are year-round operations that come alive with inspired learning environments and can give young students their first taste of the big league schools that will compel them to carry on with their studies. But there’s also the other added benefits of a campus, such as a contained location that offers classroom space, dining, overnight accommodations, and one-of-a-kind activities all in one place. That means less transportation is required and more security is provided since group leaders can more easily keep tabs on where the young participants are at all times. Campuses are also a great place to find unique opportunities for extra curricular and team-building activities that give young minds the mental break and physical activity they need. At Fumran University in Greenville, South Carolina, campers will enjoy 30 acres of lake and walking trails at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains while at Utica College in upstate New York there is the availability of a state-of-the art stadium with artificial turf, plus a competition-size swimming pool, aerobic dance rooms, racquetball, tennis, and basketball courts, and soccer, baseball, softball, and lacrosse playing fields.
