The UMBC campus is located on the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. corridor, providing easy access to both of these major metropolitan centers, and is only a ten-minute drive or shuttle from BWI Thurgood Marshall International Airport. UMBC Event & Conference Services provides a wide variety of venue spaces, resources, and services to accommodate youth and adult groups, athletic summer camps, educational groups, and corporate/organizational events. We offer suite-style, residence hall or apartment overnight accommodations with individually controlled heat and air-conditioning, high-speed internet, and free parking for overnight visitors. In addition, UMBC offers a traditional dining hall with numerous food concepts and the ability to accommodate certain dietary restrictions and cultural dining needs, as well as a full-service catering option. The Commons

The Commons is an approximately 140,000 square foot facility that features six traditional meeting rooms, a food court, sit-down restaurant, several performance spaces and a game room for recreation. High-speed, free public Wi-FI makes it easy to be productive and communicate with family, colleagues, and friends during your visit.

True Grit’s Dining Hall features buffet-style dining and offers made to order options, entrees and sides, Italian favorites, made to order sandwiches, Kosher offerings, a fresh salad bar and much more. Outtakes Quick Cuisine C-Store is located in True Grit’s and provides guests with a wide variety of snacks, convenience items, beverages, ice cream, candy and more.

The University Center offers a full-service Starbucks and Chick-fil-A restaurant, conveniently located in the heart of our academic corridor and in the same building as our ballroom and University Center meeting spaces.

The Commons

The Commons offers a variety of dining concepts, including traditional Italian fare, custom salad creations, sandwiches, Asian-inspired cuisine, sushi, grab-and-go and more.  Additionally, The Commons offers a convenience shop operated by the University Bookstore and a full-service Dunkin Donuts just inside the south entrance to the facility.

UMBC Residential Life

UMBC offers an eye-catching campus with six traditional halls and four apartment communities equipped with free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, vending machines, lounges, front desk assistance and on-campus catering. Suite-style rooms are provided with semi-private bathrooms. Communities are a short, comfortable walk from classrooms, labs, meeting spaces, athletic center, and more. Free parking is offered to summer overnight guests!

Residential Life can accommodate approximately 3,000 summer conference guests at a given time in our suite-style halls and apartment communities. Click Conference Floor Plans to view our housing facilities. We also welcome summer intern housing for those internships associated with one of our campus academic programs.

Certified One-Stop Shop

UMBC Event & Conference Services is certified by the Association of College Conference Event Directors, International (ACCED-I) as a "One-Stop Shop."  This means that our dedicated adivsor will serve as your primary point-of-contact for all of your event and conference planning needs.  We will coordinate resources and personnel across our wide variety of services, including housing, audio-visiual technical support, transportation, security, dining, recreation, and more.  You have one point of contact and one consolidated bill to pay at the end of your stay with us.   

We aim to achieve a consistently high-level service experience for our cleints through open communication, our willingness to serve, and our passion for success.
