The Terrace Hotel

About

Florida’s burgeoning railroad and real estate sectors contributed to the state’s booming tourism industry in the early 20th century, and Lakeland’s Terrace Hotel opened its opulent doors in 1924 to graciously welcome the many visitors to the Sunshine State. Due to the recent development of air conditioning, it was also one of the first hotels in Florida to be open all year round. It was also the city’s first grand hotel and high-rise structure. The Terrace was a popular holiday location for famous people including Henry Ford, Frank Sinatra, and Frank Lloyd Wright during its prime in the 1940s and 1950s. The hotel’s Mediterranean charm and classical details were restored in 1999 thanks to a $10 million refurbishment, ushering The Terrace into an era of modern elegance and contemporary service.
