About

The Second City has been bringing the funny for over 50 years, but here’s the short version: we began as a small comedy theater and have grown to become today’s leading brand in improv-based sketch comedy. Plus, we have more than a handful of successful Second City alumni who we aren’t too modest to mention, like Catherine O’Hara, Mike Myers and Tina Fey.

The Second City is available for private events of all kinds including team building workshops, corporate meetings and event receptions. Our theatres, restaurants, and studios are available for both daytime and evening rentals complete with food & beverage service and customized entertainment.

The Second City Mainstage

When your group sees a show in one of our iconic Second City Theatres, they are watch-ing the next generation of comedy superstars. For over 50 years, The Second City has been Toronto’s home for comedy. Our Mainstage has a fresh modern feel and is equiped with state-of-the-art A/V technology. This space is perfect for private performances, town hall meetings, celebratory outings, conferences, large-scale presentations, and awards ceremonies.

Theatre '73

Named for the year The Second City opened the doors of their official Toronto home, Theatre ‘73 is one of The Second City’s resident stage theatres. Boasting an upscale cabaret vibe and state-of-the-art audiovisual capabilities to make your event dazzle. This theatre space is perfect for town hall meetings, large-scale presentations, and conferences.

The John Candy Box Theatre

An intimate creative space perfect for keynotes, presentations, screenings, workshops and more. Features a floor made from the original stage at “The Old Firehall,” where legendary comedians like Gilda Radner, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and John Candy got their start. This space is perfect for ideation and innovation sessions, holiday parties, professional development workshops, fundraisers, corporate off-sites, and social events.

The Bentwood Toronto

Operated by Canadian hospitality legends Oliver and Bonacini, The Bentwood is a bright and casual restaurant overlooking Love Park with a view of the harbourfront. The Bentwood’s menu features Canadian comfort classics crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Chef-prepared offerings range from sharable snacks to hearty mains. This space is perfect for pre-show dinners, private functions, brunch, holiday parties, and catered lunches.

Yes, And... Cocktail Bar

A bright and versatile modern space with a fast and fun menu by Oliver and Bonacini. Steps from Scotiabank Arena, Rogers Centre, and the Toronto Convention Centre. With over a dozen screens, it’s the perfect spot for a pre-game bite, cocktails before the concert or, naturally, a delicious snack before enjoying a Second City Comedy show. This space is perfect for cocktail receptions, private functions, networking events, large group dinners, holiday parties and more!
