In the center of Detroit’s university, medical, and cultural quarter lies a distinctive grouping of opulent houses called The Inn on Ferry Street. East Ferry Avenue, which was formerly a part of the Ferry Seed Company, was transformed into an affluent area in the late 1800s. Four imposing residences and two carriage houses make up today’s The Inn on Ferry Street. These Victorian-style historic mansions have grand staircases, elaborate fireplaces, and stained or leaded glass windows in addition to Victorian architecture. The Inn has been updated to include amenities needed by today’s business and leisure guests while yet upholding the importance of historic preservation.
