The Brown, a historic AAA Four Diamond hotel, is distinguished by its exquisite Georgian Revival facade and classic English Renaissance architecture. I admire a large hotel, says a Southern Living writer of the lavish two-story lobby’s hand-painted coffered ceiling, Botticino marble flooring, exquisitely carved mahogany furnishings, and Palladian-style windows. I love strolling into an opulent foyer that appears to have been taken straight from a 1930s movie set.
When it first opened in 1923, The Brown has been a beloved icon in Louisville and a preferred location for social gatherings. Most recently, Travel + Leisure magazine named it one of the Top 500 Hotels in the World.
