Since 1886, five generations of the Monteleone family have proudly run the Hotel Monteleone. The hotel’s renowned grandfather clock continues to chime in the lobby, which also features shining brass accents, crystal chandeliers, and marble floors. Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Eudora Welty, and Truman Capote were among the eminent writers who frequently came here. The Friends of Libraries U.S.A. designated Hotel Monteleone a Literary Landmark due to the hotel’s frequent use as a backdrop in American fiction.
