Hotel Casa del Mar
About
Two businessmen, E.A. Harter and Tifford Harter launched Casa del Mar in 1926 as a posh beach club, and it became an immediate hit. The resort became a well-liked getaway for the wealthy and well-known, including Hollywood stars like Theda Bara and Rudolph Frim. At its peak, roughly 2,000 people were registered as guests at Casa del Mar.
When Casa del Mar reopened as a hotel in 1997, it was included to the National Register of Historic Places and is now one of Southern California’s most opulent tourist attractions. This rebuilt oceanfront hotel features contemporary coastal decor and expansive views of the California coastline from Palos Verdes to Malibu. It was inspired by the opulent beach homes of the Mediterranean.
