Grand Hotel

About

Since 1887, America’s First Grand HotelTM has been a symbol of summer resorts. On Mackinac Island, where cars are prohibited and horse-drawn carriages are the preferred form of transportation, is this National Historic Landmark and Historic Hotels of America Best Historic Resort. Visitors can experience the beauty and charm of the Victorian era with the contemporary conveniences crucial to modern visitors as they rock back and forth on the world’s longest porch, which overlooks the Straits of Mackinac. Interior designer Carleton Varney has artistically adorned the 397 guestrooms, which include one- and two-bedroom suite options. Seven of the suites are named for first ladies, while the Musser Suite is named for the late hotel chairman R.D. Musser, Jr.
