Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate

About

Fort Baker, a picturesque army outpost on the Marin Headlands, has long aided in the defense of the San Francisco region. The 24 early 1900s buildings that surround the 10-acre parade field have a stunning setting. Structures in the symmetrical Colonial Revival design use traditional features like columns and wraparound porches. These exquisitely restored officers’ quarters now offer guests opulent but discreet accommodations. Fort Baker, which was operational throughout World War II, officially changed from a post to a park in 2002. In order to restore, improve, and protect Fort Baker as a national park for future generations, a unique corporate, public, and nonprofit partnership worked together to create Cavallo Point, which opened to visitors in 2008.
