About
Howard Carroll, a well-known newspaperman, playwright, and businessman, had the vision for Castle Hotel & Spa, which now sits on lovely hilltop acres overlooking the picturesque Hudson River. Carroll oversaw the building of the hotel at the turn of the 20th century and resided there with his family until 1940. Rich hardwood accents, intricate stained glass, and crystal chandeliers are among the interior design characteristics. The 1997 careful conversion of the medieval-style building—now a recognized historic landmark—into a luxury hotel provides discerning visitors exquisite service, opulent accommodations, the award-winning Equus Restaurant, and the Sankara Sanctuary Spa, an oasis of calm and tranquility.
