Caribbean Motel

The Caribbean Motel, which was built in 1957 at the height of the “Doo Wop” era, was one of the most creative buildings to emerge along the famous Jersey Beach. With its ultra-modern architectural features, such as a futuristic ramp to the second floor and sundeck, angled glass walls, an enormous neon sign, multicolored spaceship lights, and tropical-themed landscaping with full-size plastic palm trees—the first to be “planted” in Doo Wop motels—the motel transported guests to exotic vacations in faraway lands to fulfill their fantasies. This gorgeous vintage motel has been painstakingly renovated and is now equipped with contemporary conveniences. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is revered as a masterpiece of Midcentury modern architecture worldwide.
