Bear Mountain Inn

About

The historic Bear Mountain Hotel, constructed in 1915, is the focal point of a distinctive park system that extends from the edge of New York City through the Hudson Valley. It is located at the foot of Bear Mountain and offers views of the shores of Hessian Lake. Bear Mountain Inn is a fantastic modern equivalent of the great National Park lodges because it was one of the first rustic-style lodges constructed to benefit from a natural environment. The Bear Mountain Hotel has served as the Palisades Interstate Park Commission’s focal point ever since it opened. It was first built as an outdoor pavilion to help with food service.
In order to make the Inn a year-round destination, windows were added to its massive stone arches by the winter of 1923.
