Unique Venues Looks Back at a Banner Year with its Fourth Annual ‘Best Of’ Award Winners for 2017

Winners in 20+ categories are profiled in the new Unique Venues magazine, FREE for planners

EDWARDS, COLORADO (December 20, 2017) – There is good and better in the meetings and events industry, but Unique Venues continually strives for the best. Every year, the organization—which connects meeting and event planners with the non-traditional spaces they desire—recognizes college and university campuses, cultural and historical centers, arenas and stadiums, and more special event venues with the yearly Unique Venues Best of Awards. Winners across 24 categories were voted on by the readers of Unique Venues magazine, a community of 55,000-plus planners across the U.S. and Canada.

These prized UYs (U-Vees) are a one-of-a-kind honor recognizing the properties that often get overlooked by other industry awards, with categories ranging from “best locally sourced catering” to “best reunion spot,” “best youth or sports camp venue,” and more. Unique Venues also recognizes four venues that delivered creative and effective marketing awards, and also names a distinguished Person of the Year—for 2017, the honor goes to Boston University’s Shane Cutler. Each winner is recognized in the latest Winter 2018 Issue of Unique Venues magazine, which was delivered to planners and venues in December.

“The Unique Venues Best of Awards are an important honor for members of our niche industry that often don’t fit in with traditional award ‘categories’ but are just as deserving as standard venues like hotels,” says Founder Michele Nichols. “All of our winners are true trendsetters and leaders, and they are the reason why there is so much growing demand for non-traditional meeting and event venues.”

In addition to the Best of Awards, the new Winter 2018 Issue has 90-plus pages full of rich content targeted to planners, including a ‘road trip’ to four worthy venues in Pittsburgh, a look at the trend of renting out campus accommodations to leisure travelers, and discovering how one venue hosted massive crowds for the great Solar Eclipse in August. In addition, there are food and drink recipes that can be adapted for upcoming meetings and parties.

The magazine is distributed FREE of charge to 55,000 professional and accredited planners in the U.S. and Canada. As well, the magazine is delivered electronically to an additional 36,000+ professional and freelance planners. To join the mailing list for Unique Venues magazine, simply register here.

In addition, the UniqueVenues.com website features a comprehensive database of all member listings including contact information, photo and video galleries, menus, meeting room capacities, a FREE RFP service, and more.
