Is your group searching for an elegant, powerful, truly unique East Coast event facility? The spectacular Turbine Hall is the clear choice for your next meeting, trade show, or event. This facility defines the term “stately”! Classic Corinthian columns soar towards 100 foot vaulted ceilings in one vast 28,000 square foot chamber! This majestic triumph once provided the electricity for most of the Delaware Valley. Having received some $75,000,000 in technologies, restorations and upgrades, it is now available for public and private gatherings of nearly any kind, making it one of the top Philadelphia event facilities available today.
In all, Turbine Hall offers 40,000 square feet, divided into six rooms. The main chamber can host 1,000 people in classroom-style seating. The catering services are superb, and offer several varied menu choices. A complete meeting package is available, to ensure that there are no surprises to upset the budget. Two words come to mind when categorizing some of the dinners and parties that have been held at the Turbine Hall: Lavish and Extravagant. What was once “one of the best preserved and most monumental power plants in the United States” (according to the Historic American Buildings Survey) is now a premiere world-class venue fit for royalty and heads of State. Able to host 600 for a white-glove sit-down service, or as many as a thousand guests for meetings and parties, Turbine Hall redefines historic elegance in venues by adding state-of the art AV technologies. Of course, high speed Internet is available throughout. The facilities include 4 large projection screen systems, a formal stage, ballroom and dance floor, a separate lounge area, bar, and ample free parking for your guests. Events held at Turbine Hall most closely resemble socialite affairs seen in Hollywood movies!
Historically significant, Turbine Hall was originally constructed in 1916 by the Philadelphia Electric Company, intending to provide the increased demand for electricity due to war-related industries housed in Philadelphia during World War One. The design was accomplished by the famous Beaux-Arts architect John T. Windrim and engineered by W.C.L. Eglin. It took two years to complete the mammoth undertaking, which has received many architectural awards. That it still stands proud and undeniably strong nearly a hundred years later is testimony to its venerable excellence, both as a power plant and now as an outstanding venue.
Turbine Hall is also very conveniently located. Sitting along the edge of the Delaware river just 15 minutes from the city-center of Philadelphia, and a mere 20 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport, this impressive world-class venue is available (aside from previous reservations,) every day of the year. This accessibility combined with the services offered and convenient location make the Turbine one of the top East Coast convention centers and event facilities.
To ensure the comfort and well being of all guests, as well as preserving the beauty of this amazing venue, Turbine Hall is a non-smoking facility. Overnight guests can find lodgings in any of the several nearby hotels. This facility readily lends itself to red-carpet gala events.
With affordable rates available, there’s no reason not to choose this extraordinary venue for your next event. No other facility in the area is as versatile and capable. Weddings, meetings, conventions, conferences, and trade shows… Gatherings of any kind will meet certain success at Turbine Hall!
