Something for everyone: Canada’s Central region

Uncategorized

Within any group, there are the people who like the feeling of “getting away” when they attend a meeting or conference. They want the quiet, the outdoors, and the retreat-like environment. Still, others like the feel of being able to experience and see all an urban area has to offer. The restaurants, the nightlife, and the site seeing speak to them. To please both crowds, consider planning in Ontario and Quebec.

The Central Region of CUCCOA (the Canadian University and College Conference Organizers Association) is introducing a redeveloped site this month that will allow planners to more easily search for campus venues within those provinces.

“The new site will allow planners to drill down on a map to see details about each location,” says Central Region Director Lori Johnston.

Johnston says they have about 50 members in their region, whose accommodations range from typical dormitory style right up to hotel style.

The main cluster of the Central Region members are in southern Ontario and southern Quebec, anchored in cities like London, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. However, they’re also in those smaller centers that are within 90 minutes of those major cities as well as into the more northern parts of Ontario.

Start there if you’re interested in recreational opportunities, including indoor pools and gyms but also great opportunities outdoors, like biking and hiking trails.

For those looking to offer a true feeling of “getting away,” consider Quebec, where Francophone culture abounds. “You can really immerse yourself in a cultural experience—without having to go far—by planning an event in Quebec.”
