Social media at tradeshows- Valuable to incorporate?

Uncategorized

Social media really exploded in 2010, with Facebook becoming the most-visited website in the world, surpassing Google.

Yet some event organizers and companies alike have hesitated to jump on the social media bandwagon, and rightly so. Companies really need to make sure they have a strategy for their social media before delving in.

But according to new research by George P. Johnson Experience Marketing and the Center for Exhibition Industry Research, companies and planners are using more digital media at trade shows and exhibitions to “add value” to their exhibition.

The study confirms that trade show professionals see value in incorporating new media because it deepens the experience attendees have with the brand at the trade show booth.

Do you agree? Does being able to Tweet with your fellow attendees enrich the exhibit or trade show experience for you? Would being able to check-in at a booth for a reward attract you to stop there? Or as an exhibitor, do you see value in incorporating social media into your trade show toolkit?
