Many of us think that facebook, flickr and youtube are programs that only our teenage children and our twenty something office interns use. I have noticed however, that many of my 30 and 40 something colleagues and friends have truly embraced this technology. I thought I would take some time to share with you some useful applications for these fun and creative social networking outlets…Just to help you get your communication juices flowing:
You Tube:
Before a satisfied customer leaves the property, ask to video record a testimonial from them.
Post the testimonial on YouTube
Link to YouTube from your own website to allow browsers to view your current testimonials.
You can also link from YouTube to your website
Flickr:
Create different albums for your venue for different types of events, such as…
Youth/Camps
Weddings & Receptions
Corporate Events
Religious Conferences and Retreats
Association Meetings
Facebook:
Consider setting up a FaceBook page for your venue. Include descriptions of your facilities and services, images of set ups and a contact for an event planner who can interact with ‘friends’ of the venue.
Give these suggestions a try. Or better yet, 'delegate' these initiatives to one of your office interns who is already tethered to this technology and instead, head out to Starbucks for a nice, grande, pumpkin spice chai latte…whichever works for you.
