Hampshire College: Conferences Committed to the Environment & Guests

Colleges & Universities

Located on a magnificent 800-acre campus full of orchards, farmland, and forest in Amherst, Massachusetts, Hampshire College is the perfect choice for meetings, conferences, and events.  The Hampshire College Office of Event Services and Summer Programs provides a certified one-stop shop with expert event coordinators that provide support from the beginning, starting with the selection of the ideal event space,  to the coordination of campus services, equipment rentals, and floral arrangements, as well as event signage, security and parking.

At Hampshire College guests blossom in a tranquil, yet professional setting for conferences, camps, retreats, workshops and social events.  While on campus guests can visit the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and the National Yiddish Book Center, and just off campus is the quaint and lively college town of Amherst, the heart of the Pioneer Valley.  The Pioneer Valley is known for an atmosphere of a cutting edge music scene, world-class entertainment, charming bookstores, incredible restaurants, as well as year-round recreational opportunities.

Hampshire College offers classrooms, conference and lounge spaces, galleries, lecture halls, auditorium, dance studios, a recital hall and theaters, computer labs, a common dining area and banquet facilities.  In addition to these traditional meeting spaces, Hampshire College also has multiple unique non-traditional meeting facilities.  For instance there is a quaint tavern and a fantastic Red Barn.  The Red Barn, with its wide-panel flooring and post and beam construction, offers a rustic feel with authentic New England charm.  The Red Barn can accommodate up to 120 guests.  The two windowed walls of the Barn offer breathtaking views of the Pioneer Valley Mountains.  In addition, two large decks provide additional space for an outdoor cocktail hour or a dining experience with a scenic background.  The event spaces at Hampshire College, both traditional and non-traditional, have the capacity from small intimate gatherings to a large corporate meeting with up to 600 guests.  Summer housing is available on-campus with accommodations in both traditional dormitories or in apartment style living spaces.

Sustainability at Hampshire is a key component and is integrated into the campus farm, food, operations, curriculum, and conference services.  The Sustainability Initiative focuses on building upon Hampshire College's strong foundation of innovative research, forward-thinking, environmental action and awareness.  The entire Hampshire campus has begun the sustainable transition that focuses efforts in making a change to improve the planet by concentrating on healthy food systems, environmentally conscious campus procedures, sustainable operations and a creative curriculum.  One of the first steps to this pledge was the installation of a solar canopy, which will further reduce the campus’ carbon footprint.  The new solar canopy provides a visible commitment to Hampshire’s sustainable energy development and as a research tool; it encourages scientific exploration of solar energy and renewable technologies.  Solar panels and interactive displays will provide significant data for the campus community and guests and it will also provide an opportunity to educate the general public on sustainability issues.

With the ideal location, certified support services, fantastic event spaces and a commitment to environmental sustainability, Hampshire College is the right choice for every event and, as an added bonus, all new customers that book a Summer 2013 event will receive a 10% savings discount.
