Located within the capital city of Lincoln, the University of Nebraska campus has a small town feel with the amenities of a larger city within walking distance. Recreational amenities abound in Lincoln with 80 miles of hiking and biking trails and downtown is also host to many popular events. Guests of UNL can take advantage of First Friday Art Walks that display local talent’s paintings, photography, clothing, sculpture, music and much more. On Saturdays the Haymarket Farmers Market features over 200 vendors, food, produce and arts & crafts. Summers in Lincoln also mean Jazz in June and the Capital City Ribfest. In addition, with the scheduled completion of construction of the Pinnacle Bank arena and entertainment district for September 2013 guests will also now be able to enjoy brand new retail shopping, restaurants, and concert space.

Each summer guests come to the University of Nebraska for their fabulous facilities, top-notch customer service, convenient location and great accommodations. On campus the University of Nebraska’s versatile facilities are available for every type of event from youth sports camps to adult academic conferences, from leadership institutes to grand scale conventions and festivals. According to the Board Vice President of Educational Theatre Association, Jerry Smith, Jr. who has held the International Thespian Festival at UNL for the past 17 years,  "It is comforting to know that we have the full focus and commitment of a well-trained and cooperative staff. Only through a cooperating working relationship could this event happen so flawlessly." In 2010 UNL was host to over 3,700 athletes, coaches and organizers for the Special Olympics National Games, and according to Brett Broek, Director of project planning for Special Olympics, they have “never had such a successful event in terms of housing and food for both athletes and coaches.”

Meeting space on campus includes over 100 venues including a nationally acclaimed performing arts theatre, auditoriums, classrooms, breakout rooms, and top-notch athletic facilities. The UNL campus also offers a wide variety of housing options and can currently accommodate 5,500 guests during the summer months in both traditional, air-conditioned residence halls and suite-style units. All accommodations feature laundry facilities, free high speed Internet, wireless access, and convenient parking. The newly constructed Robert E. Knoll Residential Center features 565 beds in suite-style units that offer semi-private accommodations, fully furnished living rooms, a private bath and a kitchenette.
