About
About Wasatch Mountain Lodge
The Historic Wasatch Mountain Lodge is located in Brighton, Utah at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City. Construction of the Lodge was begun in 1929 by members of the Wasatch Mountain Club during a time when travel to the canyon was significantly more difficult than it is today. The Lodge is one of the only remaining original log buildings in the Brighton area. Because of it's historical importance, this remarkable building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Lodge has a large room on the main floor with an impressive working stone fireplace at one end. It has the original pine floors, log walls, and paned windows. A large front porch and kitchen were added later as well as men’s and women’s restrooms. Outside, there is a large patio with built-in barbeque grills. Lake Mary Creek runs next to the property. The Lodge water is supplied from a local spring and is regularly tested for purity. The Lodge sits on leased Forest Service land and sits among the trees and mountains of Big Cottonwood Canyon.
The second floor of the Lodge has two large dormitory-style rooms with beds for twenty. For those who don’t mind rustic accommodations, the Lodge can be rented for overnight functions.
The Historic Wasatch Mountain Lodge is owned by the Wasatch Mountain Club Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is the maintain and preserve this unique building.
