Middlebury Inn

About

The Middlebury Inn is the only hotel in the nation to have been open continuously since 1827. The brick “public house” built by Nathan Wood first debuted as the Vermont Hotel but was later renamed the Addison House in 1852 before becoming the Middlebury Inn in 1925. The William Porter family lived at the neighboring Porter Mansion, a grand brick house that was constructed in 1825 and was given that name. The main building’s Federalist architecture with its columned ballrooms and lobby is complemented by the mansion’s gracefully curved staircase, elaborate moldings, and attractive guestrooms. The Middlebury Inn has kept its distinctive historic beauty and elegance while offering top-notch service, welcoming hospitality, and contemporary facilities.
