Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

About

Origins of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel go back to 1960, when renowned entrepreneur Laurance S. Rockefeller first saw the Kauna’oa Bay’s crystal blue waters and white dunes and was moved to build a fantastic hotel that captured the essence of this unique location. Rockefeller’s team designed a spectacular Midcentury modern design that, in the 1960s, was far ahead of its time with careful respect to the dramatic natural surroundings. He decorated the hotel with hundreds of works of art and antiquities from Asia and the Pacific that are of museum-caliber. An award-winning 18-hole golf course, an 11-court tennis complex, a beach club, island dining options, houses, and villas are just a few of the resort’s 252 guest amenities.
