Lake McDonald Lodge

About

The National Historic Landmark Lake McDonald Lodge is situated amongst tall cottonwood and cedar trees. One of the greatest examples of the Swiss Chalet-style hotels still in existence in the United States is the Lake McDonald Lodge, which first opened its doors in 1914. Inscribed words in the legendary lobby’s floors read “welcome” and “fresh life to those who drink here” in the local Native American dialect of Kootenai. Split between a main lodge, duplex-style cabins, Snyder Hall, and the Cobb House are rustic yet pleasant bedrooms. Rooms provide guests with basic conveniences and Old-World-style lodgings in line with the era in which the lodge was built, creating a one-of-a-kind experience.
