Pointview Hall, Carnegie Science Center’s premier event venue, features an unparalleled view of the city through its floor-to-ceiling windows. The stunning view of the skyline from the terrace adds an air of sophistication to our venue that you won’t find elsewhere.

River View Cafe Terrace
The Café Terrace, extending beyond the ground-floor River View Café, is an open, roomy place for kicking back with cocktails and enjoying a scenic view of everything that makes Pittsburgh unique. (Available anytime. Accommodates 100 seated, 200 standing.)
Main Lobby
For your next event, master the social sciences. The Main Lobby and Exhibit Floors are scientifically formulated for success. (Available after 5:00 PM. Accommodates 200 seated, 400 standing.)
Rangos OMNIMAX Theater
Treat your group to a private show at the OMNIMAX®. With larger-than-life imagery, immersive sound, and one gigantic dome, this visual experience puts your guests in the center of the action. (Available after 5:00 PM. Tiered seating for 340.)
The scenic lobby of the OMNIMAX Theater comes complete with a view of the iconic fountain at Point State Park across the river. (Available before 10:00 AM or after 5:00 PM. Accommodates 150 seated, 300 standing.)
Henry Buhl, Jr. Planetarium
Choosing the right venue for video projection isn’t rocket science. With its 50-foot dome, the Planetarium is just right for any meeting or presentation. Or choose to dazzle guests with one of our laser shows of choreographed sight-n-sound spectacles of full-dome proportions to your favorite music! (Available after 5:00 PM. Tiered seating for 150.)
Overlook Room
The Overlook Room’s bank of curved windows makes the view of the Point, the three rivers, and the downtown skyline, the centerpiece at every table for your dinner or reception. (Available anytime. Accommodates 50 seated, 60 standing.)
The Works Theater
The fourth-floor Works Theater is a unique and fun space that takes you back to the days of disco. Guests can get down tonight on the dance floor, or use this groovy space to add sparks to any meeting’s presentation. (Available after 5:00 PM. Accommodates 100 seated, 200 standing.)
Second-Floor Exhibit Area
Features the Miniature Railroad & Village® exhibit where hundreds of wonderfully realistic animated scenes illustrate how people lived, worked, and played during the 1880s to the late 1930s. (Exhibit closes for refurbishing from late September through mid-November.). roboworld™ is the world's largest permanent robotics exhibition! Guests will learn how 'bots sense, think, and act and explore dozens of interactive exhibit stations in this 6,000 square-foot, one-of-a-kind robotics experience. (Available after 5:00 PM. Accommodates 60 seated, 150 standing.)
Fifth-Floor Balcony and Observatory
Other venues have balconies, but how many come equipped with a high-powered telescope and astronomer? Reserve our fifth-floor balcony and your guests can gaze at distant galaxies and have worlds of fun. (Available anytime. Accommodates 50 seated, 100 standing.)
Bayer Science Stage
Get your audience into the act at the polished Science Stage, a full-purpose theater. (Available anytime. Tiered seating for 300.)
Highmark SportsWorks®
This new 20,000 square foot space is adjacent to the main Science Center building. With its floor-to-ceiling windows and brightly colored walls painted in primary colors, there are nearly 30 interactive experiences about the physics of sports, nutrition and health for your guests to explore. Great for team-building events. (Available after 5:00 PM. Accommodates 50 seated, 300 standing.)
SportsWorks® Classrooms
There are four classrooms available in the SportsWorks building. Three of the classrooms can be opened up to make one larger space. (Available anytime. Accommodates 30 -70 seated).
USS Requin Submarine
Come aboard to learn how 80 men used their expertise, humor and sheer ingenuity to carve out a rough and adventurous life during Requin's lengthy defense and scientific missions, some of which are still classified to this day! (Available seasonally for touring only.)
Kitchen Theater
The perfect space for hands-on demonstrations with an large over-head mounted mirror, two stainless steel round tables and 60 stools.

Catering Team
Catering is provided by Parkhurst Dining Services. From five-course dining experiences to casual cuisine, our team of Executive Chefs and Catering Directors will assist in menu selection and planning.
Special Events Staff
Let our special events staff help you create an event that’s unique, memorable, and surprisingly affordable. We’ll handle everything from flowers and photographers to satellite downlinks and tours.
We have three parking lots at the Science Center: one directly in front of our building, one across the street from the main parking lot, and one adjacent to Sprout Way by the Rivers Casino. A parking attendant can direct you if you need help finding the lots. Cost for parking is $5, and members enjoy discounted parking at a $3 fee.
Coat Check
Seasonal coat check services are included in the price of the space rental. Coat racks are also available upon request.
Security and Custodial Services
Security and custodial services are included in the price of the space rental.
Choose from a wide selection of books, games, toys, microscopes, telescopes and more, selected by our expert staff. Store can remain open during evening events. Ask the special events staff for more details.
Personal Tour Guides and Exhibit Staff
Whether guided or focused on a specific theme, our special events staff will be happy to assist with tour arrangements.


Audio-Visual Services and Equipment
At the Science Center, our skilled in-house A/V staff is included in the rental fee and can supply basic needs. For events requiring more elaborate set-ups, we work with several preferred vendors.
