UNIQUE VENUES UNIVERSITY

Unique Venues, a trusted leader in bringing together one-of-a-kind event venues with meeting planners for 35 years, is taking the next step evolution for educational programming with the launch of Unique Venues University

Industry professionals including Unique Venues clients, non-clients and industry planners will have access to five Spring Semester courses taught by qualified individuals that will run from February to mid-April and then resume with a six course Fall Semester offering set to take place from late September to early December.

As the meetings and events industry ground to a halt early in 2020, Unique Venues quickly identified a need in the marketplace for individuals to remain engaged with other industry professionals through education and professional development. Unique Venues responded by conducting more than 50 webinars, roundtables and client group therapies that explored an array of topics including marketing, sales, venue operations, risk management, and health and wellness. As the industry begins its recovery and looks towards a brighter 2021, a gap still remains in quality education as it relates to the meetings and events industry.

While the goal is to eventually build and offer a collection of courses that are available on-demand, the current roster of classes will run synchronously with a live instructor and range from 1-2 weeks or 6-8 weeks depending on the curriculum. Each will be designed as a course and not a webinar that will have built-in learning objectives and required participation necessary to receive continuing education credits approved by a variety of industry associations. Students who complete a course will also receive a digital credential that can easily be added to LinkedIn profiles or other digital media.  

Unique Venues University courses may be approved for continuing education credits (CEUs) by the following organization(s): 
Course descriptions, learning outcomes, and faculty bios are submitted to each organization for evaluation. Decisions related to the approval of any individual UVU course are the sole authority of the granting organization. It is the responsibility of individual participants to claim CEU credits with granting organizations according to their normal process. 

Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors – International (ACCED-I), Certified Conference and Events Professional (CCEP) Designation

Spring Semester Course Offerings


How to Talk...Like Ted | An Accelerated Process
Mondays, 7:00 - 9:30pm EST | February 1 & 8, 2021

INTRO TO COURSE VIDEO

This course is intended to motivate individuals to share their passions through presentations that are engaging and dynamic. These “talks” are meant to teach us something new, “wow” us, inspire us, and get us to think.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will learn how to plan and execute the process of sharing “ideas worth spreading”.
     
  • Students will embrace the power of persuasion and learn how to use statistics, examples, and stories to express a point of view.
     
  • This accelerated course will teach students an overview of preparation, performance, and presentation styles.

Event Planning and Management
Wednesdays, 4:00 - 4:45pm EST | February 10 - March 17, 2021

The key to becoming a successful event planner is to have a combination of proper education, experience, and training. Throughout the course, all participants will create their own customized event plan and will have the opportunity to network and engage with other industry professionals.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will understand best practices, organizational methods, and concepts within the event planning field.

  • Students will develop an understanding of event impacts through discussion and real-world case studies. 

  • Students will demonstrate event planning knowledge by creating a customized event plan.  



Culture Talk | Using Archetypes to Build Individual and Organizational Awareness and Understanding 
Tuesdays, 2:00 - 3:00pm EST | February 16 - March 9, 2021

In this introductory course, we use the CultureTalk individual survey tool to begin building understanding of your personal brand and how to leverage this self-understanding in your professional and personal lives.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the twelve CultureTalk Archetypes that influence individual and organizational behavior through self-assessment and detailed overviews of each archetype, focusing on how each type manifests itself in both strengths and shadows. 

  • Focus on each participant’s most dominant archetypes and discuss how these can help build a personal brand identity, create a set of personal and professional belief statements, and personal and professional taglines. 

  • Build an introductory understanding of organizational archetypes and how they manifest in the workplace, allowing individuals to leverage basic archetypal knowledge to build better understanding of the strengths and shadows within their organization, assist with improving communication with co-workers, supervisors and clients, and creating a positive future for themselves and the workplace.



The 360-Degree Professional
Tuesday, 3:30 - 5:00pm EDT | March 30, 2021
PLUS two (2) 45-minute follow-up appointments based on participants' individual schedules

Successful professionals are often perceived as those that can leverage their individual strengths to meet the needs of the day. But what if your individual strengths do not align with the variety of challenges you face in your professional life? Are there ways to elevate your skills in the areas you struggle, and become a more well-rounded professional? Using his personally developed framework, the Twelve Dimensions of Life©, Dr. Michael Brown will guide participants through an overview of the different aspects of a well-rounded individual and how they impact success in their personal and professional lives.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will understand the Twelve Dimensions of Life© and how they apply to an individual’s style, strength, and struggles. 
  • Participants will learn the process for making a conscious choice to change in those dimensions that need greater attention and focus. 
  • Participants will develop an individual plan for making change in two specific dimensions as a starting point for action. 
This course qualifies for 3.0 CEUs. 



Changing Conversations | A Consultative Sales Approach
Wednesdays, 2:00 - 3:00pm EDT | April 14 - April 28, 2021

The ultimate goal of this Changing Conversations course is to elevate your selling skills and style to be more consultative when building business partnerships and closing contracts. The emphasis is on understanding your clients’ objectives, circumstances, and needs prior to offering your programs and solutions.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will understand the Level 5 Customer Conversation Types and how they reflect sales and product knowledge/skills and impact customer loyalty.

  • Participants will incorporate Conversation Goals that focus on the key areas of goals, objectives, solutions, impact and value to contribute to successfully closing more contracts.

  • Participants will create a framework for conversations that will help to effectively sell your venue in a way that creates partnerships with your clients that lead to customer loyalty and continued success.
