The luncheon, taking place in the venue's AS Atrium, will be held for senior leaders of corporations that are sponsoring the Special Olympics, according to Memorial University, Grenfell Campus Conference Marketing Coordinator Marie-Claude Renaud. The luncheon will seat approximately 55-60 VIPs, representing corporations such as Tim Hortons, TSN, Coca-Cola, Telus, RBC, Sobeys, Staples, and more.
Hosting the luncheon isn't the only way Memorial University, Grenfell Campus is getting involved with the event. According to Marie-Claude Renaud, the venue is also a sponsor and will also host the Healthy Athletes event on March 3rd and 4th in the Grenfell Gymnasium. The Healthy Athletes event is a designed program to help give Special Olympic athletes a wide range of health exams and care. The event's goal is to bring better fitness, nutrition, and healthier lifestyles to everyone involved in Special Olympics, from athletes and their families, to coaches and volunteers.
The games will attract nearly 600 to 800 athletes. It is biggest event hosted in Corner Brook since the Canada Games in 1999.
