Iowa State Conference Management Receives Outstanding Achievement Award


AMES, IOWA, May 23, 2013 ― Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Conference Planning and Management received the 2013 International Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award from the Association of Collegiate Conference and Event Directors (ACCED-I) during their annual conference in Toronto. The Outstanding Institutional Achievement Award recognizes significant achievements by an institution in the conference and event field, and focuses on an institution’s accomplishments. During 2012, Conference Planning and Management, in collaboration with the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau provided meeting and event services for more than 150 events, including several that were new to the community. Many of these events involved extensive services, support and facilities from both Iowa State University and the Ames community, and each were enhanced in a way that left a lasting impact on our community, and to the future of the groups. The 2012 events included the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals, the National Beep Baseball Association World Series, the Midwest Bisexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Conference, and the Farm Progress Show. Iowa State University has proven a relationship with the Ames community, specifically the unique partnership between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Conference Planning and Management and the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau. This collaborative relationship has allowed the university and community to compete with locations across the U.S. and around the world as a premier conference and event destination. Through this partnership and their efforts, Iowa State University and Ames had an exceptional year of hosting events and creating lasting impact for the community, the university and the individual groups who hosted the events. ACCED-I is the only independent educational association dedicated to professional growth and development in the collegiate conference and events profession. The association has more than 1,750 members from more than 500 colleges and universities in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. ACCED-I members include the campus professionals involved with the design, marketing, coordination and planning of conferences and special events on the campuses of colleges and universities around the world.
