From Conferences to Summits, Meetings to Retreats, the Yale University Conference & Events Team Did it All This Summer

When students leave for the summer the campus takes on a whole new feeling. Thousands of people from around the nation and the world converge on New Haven to enjoy and take advantage of Yale’s vast resources. Chances are, if you were around this summer, you ran into some of these groups as they crisscrossed the campus on their way to classes, meals, and summer programs.

Yale’s Conferences & Events department coordinates much of the summer line-up — managing accommodations, schedules, and helping to move 50+ groups, about 8,200 people, on and around campus, including:

Yale Young Global Scholars brings talented young minds from all over the world here to collaborate and share ideas in a collegiate environment. Sessions for the 600+ students included “Politics, Law, and Economics,” and “Science, Policy, and Innovation.”

Yale National Initiative has a mission to strengthen teaching in public schools. Summer seminars enable public school teachers to increase their knowledge of a subject and develop effective teaching strategies. Participants collaborate with college professors to write a curriculum unit designed to fit their specific classrooms and enrich their sending school as well.

College Summit promotes peer leadership as 150 rising seniors participate in four-day sessions, returning to their high schools as ambassadors and leaders for their fellow students. Their mission is to help build a college-going culture with their peers while their teachers and guidance counselors use the curriculum and technology to help all students plan for, and apply to, college.

Global Health Corp (GHC) provides opportunities for young professionals from diverse backgrounds to work on the frontlines of the fight for global health equity. GHC fellows participate in week-long summer sessions to help prepare them as emerging leaders, building the movement for health equity.
