Chef Rick Bayless is bringing his award-winning talents to Notre Dame on Thursday, April 28th, in the “Visiting Chefs” series by University Enterprises & Events. Chef Bayless is known for winning the title of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, and for his highly rated Public Television series, “Mexico – One Plate at a Time”, as well as his side by side restaurants in Chicago, the casual Frontera Grill, and the 4-star Toplobampo.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chef Bayless to the University to spend time with our students and chefs of Notre Dame,” said Micki Kidder, Vice President of University Enterprises and Events, “his talent spans the globe and we could not be more excited to have him as part of our “Visiting Chefs” series”.
At 12:30 p.m, students and the Notre Dame campus community are invited to join Chef Bayless in North Dining Hall for a “Mexico Everyday” book giveaway and cooking demonstration while enjoying cochinita pibil with black beans and habanero salsa. This event is not open to the public, but is open to all with meal plans and members of the campus community with purchase of a meal at the door.
At 2 p.m, Chef Bayless will be interviewed on the topic “Wellness & Sustainability: The Future of the Restaurant Industry'' at Jordan Auditorium in Mendoza. Chef Bayless will discuss the current state of the restaurant industry and what he sees as its future. A signing of “More Mexico Everyday'' will immediately follow the lecture and interview. This event is open to the public.
