Villanova University Office of Conference Services seeks a highly organized, energetic and experienced conferences and events professional for the position of Assistant Director Conference Operations who will manage the annual campus housing and as-needed meeting space preparation and oversight for some 85 organizations including 15,000 guests with 9,000 residents during the peak late May-early August summer season. The Assistant Director manages office business/accounting operations year-round and re-purposes the university’s undergraduate housing inventory during the summer months working with both VU and external client organizations while partnering with other off-campus vendors and related campus service providers, such as dining, facilities, custodial, information technology, parking, campus center, residence life and conference services reservation staff to meet or exceed guest expectations.

The Assistant Director is responsible for year-round leadership, planning and procurement, and the recruitment of temporary summer staff which will entail training, supervision and evaluation during the summer ten-week residential season. The ability to elicit peak hospitality services performance from college-age to mid-20’s summer staff is a must. This position includes an intense mid-May to mid-August cycle and requires the ability to adjust to a flexible work schedule and the ability to go the extra mile to meet guest accommodation needs. This includes the need to work some weekends, holidays and often after-hours during this time.
