Joel Hauff

Joel Hauff is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at the University of Arizona in Tucson where he oversees the Division's $280M annual budget and all administrative functions for the Senior Vice President's Office. Throughout his 20 year career at the UA, he has served primarily in financial, operational and administrative roles for large, auxiliary departments such as Residence Life and University Housing, and the Arizona Student Unions. His background in conference services includes six years as the Conference Services Manager for the UA, 11 years of service to the ACUHO-I Conference Services Workshop committee, including two years as Chair, and the delivery of multiple presentations to ACCED-I, ACUHO-I, NACAS, ACUI and ResLife.Net on topics related to the business and operational side of conference services.








Kelsey Harmon Finn

Kelsey has over 15 years in higher education and is the Executive Director for the ASUC Auxiliary and Student Union at UC Berkeley. Kelsey’s inspired to bring business- and student development-minded folks together, because she believes the out-of-classroom experience is where skills for life are fostered and the student experience thrives. Her experience is in Student Affairs and Auxiliary Services; leadership development, conference services, scheduling, event operations, student union operations, capital improvement and new construction.









Amy Layden

In 2000 Amy was hired to build from scratch the event business at the McNamara Alumni Center, a conference center privately owned by the University of Minnesota Foundation and the Alumni Association. For the first five years as event manager, Amy was immersed in operations but then transitioned to marketing the venue. In charge of all stages of growth, Amy continue to oversee this award-winning, multi-million-dollar event business and a team of eight staff who facilitate 900 events each year. From 2007-2012 the Twin Cities event industry voted McNamara Best Meeting Facility in Minnesota and in 2015 Brides magazine named McNamara one of the Top 50 Places to Get Married in the U.S.

Prior work included Director of Alumni Programs for the University of Oregon Alumni Association (1994-1999).

Mandy Volpe

Mandy Volpe is the Marketing Manager for Unique Venues. She leads communications and sales for the numerous members in the organization. Mandy previously worked for Georgia Institute of Technology where she developed a communication plan for the university’s conference services, aiding in its exposure to planners. Mandy holds a certificate in hospitality, a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a masters degree in project management She has been honored with such achievements as being named one of Rejuvenate Magazine’s “40 Under 40 Industry Influencers” as well as receiving the award for ACCED-­‐‑I’s 2013 Outstanding New Conference and Events Professional.










Jason Walley

20 years of experience developing collegiate academic and travel programs to directing the summer conference program at UCLA with 6,500 sleeping rooms and 80,000 square feet of meeting space. Grown from $11M to $18M under his tenure.
Additionally, leading continuous improvement efforts for the $250M UCLA Housing program, including a silver level win in the state level Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. He subsequently became a certified assessor for the program.
Jason's team recently completed the pricing, marketing and sales strategy for the 2016 opening of a 250 room 4 star conference center with 25,000 square feet of meeting space.

Dr. X - International Person of Mystery

Dr. X, as we call this person, is a quiet member of our team. Why? Well, Dr. X doesn't like the limelight. Instead, this member of our team quietly goes about gathering marketing intelligence and conducting competitor analyses for our consulting clients. Through this very insightful process, our clients learn a lot more about their competitive landscape, including the strengths of the competition and key insights/opportunities for positioning and growing business.

Dr. X has a PhD in Marketing and has rich experiences in higher education (residential life, conferences and auxiliaries) which allow a true understanding of the academic environment. These skills are blended with special experiences and training in observation, all of which contribute to great insights for our clients.
