Washington, D.C. – A Top Destination for Conferences, Meetings, and So Much More!

Washington, D.C. is one of the most highly populated and sought-after areas to live in the United States, and with over 5.4 million residents in 2022, the population is still climbing! That fact, paired with the countless activities and things to see in the area are what makes it an incredible place to host a conference, meeting, or social event.

When you think of D.C., you might imagine The Washington Monument or Lincoln Memorial, and while those two are must-sees, there are numerous other great attractions to visit after your conference, meeting, or event is over in the city. There’s a plethora of cultural experiences and museums to visit, learning experiences to take part in, and some exciting outdoor spots to hit while you’re in the nation’s capital.

Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

Museums to Explore
If you’re visiting the city, you’ll quickly find there is a museum to explore around just about every corner. Easily walk to a few in one day or take your time and really immerse yourself in a compelling exhibit. Some of our favorite museums are The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History where you can find the Hope Diamond from the Titanic and the National Gallery of Art, where you’ll recognize artwork by artists like Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Claude Monet. Be sure to tour the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Air and Space Museum is always a crowd favorite.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall

Memorials To Visit
Washington, D.C. is the most densely populated place in the country with memorials and historic buildings. Be sure to visit some of these incredibly special and sacred memorials after your conference or event is over. Two of the most popular are The Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. Another treasured memorial is The Vietnam Veterans Memorial - who is honoring its promise to those who served in the Vietnam War – to never forget the sacrifice they made. This year marks forty years of the anniversary of the wall being finished, and it is still just as moving today to visit as it was the year it was built. Just up the road, tour the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to learn about the incredible bravery and strength of those that survived and honor those who tragically perished through the Holocaust.

View of Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C.

Outdoor Activities
Did you know that George Washington never lived in the White House? He died prior to the building being finished, so John Adams was the very first president to live there. Fun fact aside, The White House should be on your list of places to, at the very least, walk by, while you tour the city. Some other outdoor activities that visitors can enjoy are a stroll or Segway tour around the National Mall or near Tidal Basin, one of the most popular places to view the beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring. If you’re a nature and animal lover, check out the United States Botanical Garden or the National Zoological Park.
