Although I’ve been promoting Unique Venues for over 12 years, I haven’t had much first hand experience with holding events at one.
All that changed last month when our son got married at the University of Colorado in Boulder. When he and his wife became engaged they looked at several traditional venues and either found them to be too expensive or they just didn’t ‘feel right’ to them.
They met as students at CU and were happy to find that the Stadium Club, which overlooks Folsom Field, was recently renovated and available for weddings. One look at the venue and they were convinced that it was the place for them. Not only do the Stadium Club’s floor to ceiling windows overlook the field, there are also great city and mountain views.
They booked a room at a reasonable cost and worked with the on-site Catering Manager to come up with a beautiful and affordable wedding. The room looked beautiful and the food was great. For a small additional fee we were able to run a DVD of photos of the bride and groom, family and friends, from childhood to the present on the scoreboard! The DVD ran all night and was enjoyed by everyone.
The photographer got some great shots of the guys on the field playing football in their tuxes. Other memorable shots were taken around the statue of Ralphie, the school’s buffalo mascot.
It’s been 6 weeks since the wedding and we’re all still talking about how it was such a great decision to hold the event at a unique venue.
