Going green with event decor

The holidays and special occasions come around so often that it seems like we've just taken down the tinsel and mistletoe before we are decorating our homes with green shamrocks for St. Paddy's Day, brightly coloured eggs for Easter, or balloons and streamers for children's birthday parties. With all of these luminous liners and plastic novelties, come mountains of rubbish destined for the landfills.

Tips for hosting a green event

We all love parties, the holidays and special occasions, but with each celebration comes the opportunity to spend a lot of cash on decorations, food, clothes, venues and the bits and bobs that make that perfect party. That said, you have the potential to make sure that your festivities do not cost the earth - in more ways than one! Environmentally friendly festivities are just as easy to plan and throw as their not-so-green counterparts. By choosing local, seasonal, organic, recycled or reusable items, one can add massive amounts of charm and character to any event.

Choose the Right Keynote Speaker

Hey AIG...try this for your next meeting.

Looks like Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif. is requesting that AIG come forward with details about the costs of their meetings, events, incentives and retreats held this year as well as those they have planned over the next 6 months. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I'm glad SOMEONE is getting after them on this. It's really hard not to be irate about a 'business as usual' approach when the feds are bailing them out.
