We have some pretty outstanding venues to offer meeting planners. They are unique and unlike anything else. Because of this very fact, we wanted to profile a few venues to show case exactly what makes them unique. We recently chatted with Joseph Criscuoli from University of Maryland to find out more about his venue:
1. What makes your venue unique?
The University of Maryland, College Park is located on 1,500 acres just minutes from the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., and just a short drive from both Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland. Featuring a wide array of meeting facilities, including the largest arena in the metropolitan area outside those associated with professional sports teams, summer housing, and a one-stop approach to conferences and meetings, the University of Maryland is certainly a unique venue worth exploring.
2. Tell me about the location.
The University of Maryland, College Park is located at the nexus of Routes 95, 495 and 1, and operates its own bus transportation service. The University is close to three international airports (Washington Reagan, Dulles and Baltimore-Washington) and also easily reached using Washington’s Metro subway system – with feeders from Maryland MARC Line and AMTRAK trains, and we would be happy to arrange for fee-based parking options as part of any conference, event, or summer program.
3. Are you a year-round facility? Do you just host summer groups?
The University of Maryland, College Park is a year-round facility, hosting hundreds of meetings, events, youth groups and conferences each year. Housing is available only during the summer.

4. Describe your typical group:
Our clients come from every part of the globe for many different reasons. From professional faculty-sponsored conferences and symposia to academically-oriented youth programs; from weddings to trade shows and everything in between, the University of Maryland provides groups both large and small with access to the finest in venues and event coordination offered through a one-stop shop approach.
5. Describe unique team building activities on-site:
The University of Maryland, College Park has made an extraordinary commitment to the physical well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors; our campus recreation department offers something for everyone. And the University’s rock climbing, bowling lanes, golf course, and ropes course – to name just a few – offer unique venues for team building exercises.
