It’s Never Too Late to Learn
By: Alyson Salem
Across the USA and Canada, students are heading back to school with eager anticipation of a new year, making new friends, and learning new information. Learning isn’t just for school children or university students, though, it is for everyone, and is especially important as we evolve in our professional careers. So sharpen your number 2 pencils and get ready to take notes because it’s never too late to learn! Read on for a variety of ways that you can educate yourself–that don’t involve going back to school.
• Podcasts: Podcasts can be educational, entertaining, and easily accessible. You can listen to them in the car during your commute to work, while you exercise, or even while sipping on your morning coffee. Whether you are trying to be more mindful and learn about yourself or learn in a business sense, there is a podcast or you! A couple of our favorite marketing podcasts include Mixergy & Online Marketing Made Easy.
• Webinars: Affordable (most are even free) and convenient, webinars are one of my favorite ways to learn. Offering a variety of topics, most webinars are held by industry leaders who are experts in their field. At the end of each webinar, there is an opportunity to ask the presenter questions, which I’ve found to be extremely beneficial and one of the most educational parts of the webinar.
• TED Talks: TED, standing for Technology, Entertainment, & Design, is a non-profit organization that through short 18-minute or less talks, spreads ideas that “spark conversation”. TED talks have been influential and inspirational and are a great catalyst to drive personal change and growth.
• Professional Associations: Professional associations are organizations that bring professionals together in the same job field or industry. There are great advantages to belonging to an association, including networking and educational opportunities.
• Conferences: One perk of joining a professional association is that you are given the opportunity to attend their annual or regional conference. In addition to networking with your peers, you can attend educational sessions from keynote speakers in your industry offering knowledge and expertise.
• Hire a Professional Consultant: A consultant will develop new strategies that will positively impact your business to create growth. They will also take the time to teach you how to implement those new strategies. Did you know that Unique Venues offers consulting services? CEO and President of Unique Venues, Chuck Salem, carefully selects a team of professionals that will guide you through making positive changes to your business. His team understands your challenges and offers creative solutions to meet your needs. Click here to learn more about our consulting services. (BONUS: if you contract with our consulting team by October 31, 2018, you will receive $500 off ANY consulting package.)
At Unique Venues, we believe that learning is for everyone and is necessary to grow and improve ourselves. Sometimes it can be easy to take our education and opportunities as professionals for granted. That’s why Unique Venues chose Kids in Need Foundation, a US-based organization dedicated to providing free school supplies to students who need it the most, to ensure that each child is prepared to learn. For every new member or à la carte marketing service that is contracted by September 31, 2018, Unique Venues will make a $25.00 charitable donation in your name AND we will match each contribution. Each $25.00 donation provides a backpack full of school supplies to a child in need.
