Area Attractions

AttractionDescription
Colonial Williamsburg The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation operates the world’s largest living history museum in Williamsburg, Virginia—the restored 18th-century capital of Britain’s largest, wealthiest, and most popular outpost in the New World. Here we interpret the origins of the idea of America, conceived decades before the American Revolution. The Colonial Williamsburg story of a revolutionary city tells how diverse people, having different and sometimes conflicting ambitions, evolved into a society that valued liberty and equality. Americans cherish these values as a birthright, even when their promise remains unfulfilled. In Colonial Williamsburg’s 301-acre historic Area stand hundreds of restored, reconstructed, and historically furnished buildings. Costumed interpreters tell the stories of the men and women of the 18th-century city—black, white, and native American, slave, indentured, and free—and the challenges they faced. In this historic place, we help the future learn from the past.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg We are a theme park in every sense of the term … a place where fun comes naturally. Our theme is classic European, like the Parisian streets of France, the hamlets of Scotland and the Oktoberfest celebrations of Germany. In all, we have nine villages centered around six countries for you to explore. We’ve filled our park with one of the best collections of world-class roller coasters, and balanced that with live entertainment for the entire family including kid-friendly rides for youngsters and breathtaking architecture and landscaping for everyone to enjoy. In fact, we have been voted the world’s most beautiful theme park since 1990. In addition to the fun, we are a place for learning about nature. We care deeply about conservation and the animals in our care. You can see and learn about Bald Eagles, Clydesdale horses, and gray wolves, and we hope that when you visit your appreciation for nature will grow like ours has. We are a park for kids, packed with classic kidsiderate rides, Sesame Street® characters and places for kids to explore. Where else can they sing with Elmo, hold a lorikeet and ride between mom and dad on a thrilling attraction? We are nestled near the banks of the James River in Williamsburg, Va., which also is a perfect place for a family vacation. We are surrounded by the Historic Triangle of Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, and we’re only an hour away from Virginia Beach. This destination has something for everyone. You can visit Busch Gardens by purchasing an annual membership, vacation package, multi-day ticket or single-day ticket. We open each morning at 10 a.m., but have varying close times throughout the year. Check out our operating calendar. We have five roller coasters, and a bunch of other thrill rides. We are the world’s most beautiful theme park. Seriously … it’s true. We have special events throughout the year, and each one gives the park a completely different look and feel. The Food and Wine Festival takes place in the summer, Howl-O-Scream® each fall and Christmas Town™ rounds out our winter season. And when you’re ready for a cooling off period, our sister-park, Water Country USA®, is just three miles away. Roots run deep when it comes to giving back and paying it forward. Conservation and community support are part of our core principles and will always remain important to who we are as a company.

Water Country USA Enjoy thrilling water slides and rides, kid-friendly pools and plenty of places to work on your tan at Water Country USA®. Visit our website to learn about the park and our commitment to our community, conservation and more.

Testimonials

  • "I really cannot thank you enough. My years at William and Mary were really some of my best and also some of my emotional hardest. Being back and realizing how strong our bonds of friendship were really made us greatful. It is easy to forget and not make time for friends but it is key to emotional balance, particularily as all of us are on the verge of empty-nest syndrome. Please extend my thanks to Erin and Sarah."
