Transfiguration Monastery

About

We are a small Benedictine monastery, situated on 138 acres in rural New York State, just west of the Catskills, near the Pennsylvania border. We offer guest accomodations for individuals and groups seeking a quiet, peaceful spot to get away from the busyness of their lives. The main guest house has two stories, with a kitchen, rest room, living room/conference room, and bedroom on the ground floor. The ground floor bedroom also has an acupuncture/reiki table that groups have used. Upstairs are one double room with twin beds, four single rooms, two bathrooms, one with a tub and shower, the other with shower only, as well as a living room with an ethernet cable. Next door to the guest house is a one room cabin or hermitage, also equipped with an internet cable, as well as a kitchenette and bathroom with shower. There are no televisions in either house.

We normally provide guests with a hot, home-cooked main meal at noon, and stock the refrigerator and cupboards with food that guests can prepare on their own for breakfast and supper. In the summer, when possible, we serve vegetables from our organic garden. For groups who are staying for several days, we hire a local caterer, who prepares the dishes in her home. Groups who supply and cook their own food are offered a reduced rate.

We welcome people of all faiths or no faith, but we ask our guests to respect the quiet and peace of our setting. Guests are welcome to attend our services in the monastery if they so desire.
