About Towson University Event & Conference Services


Whether you are planning a retreat, conference, gala, sporting event or summer camp, Towson University, offers a perfect location for a memorable guest experience.  Our beautiful 329 acre campus sits in lovely Baltimore County, Maryland and can accommodate event groups with up to 1,200 guests.  We can provide you with day conference facilities year round, as well as a variety of overnight accommodations, between mid-June through early August.  You can choose from a variety of state-of-the-art meeting venues, numerous catering and dining options, personalized educational programs, recreational opportunities, and our enhanced athletic facilities - which includes turf and grass fields, Johnny Unitas Stadium, and our LEED award-winning SECU Arena.

Our dedicated team of event planners, technical managers, dining/catering staff, educational leaders, and recreational associates are all highly trained to anticipate your every need.  A personal event planner will collaborate with you to meet your vision, as well as to provide opportunities that enhance your program for maximum potential and guest satisfaction.  From start to finish, our professional onsite technical staff will ensure that your program runs smoothly.  Our modern dining halls will provide a variety of buffet options for your guests to savor and our creative catering team will assist you with planning the perfect menu for a special event.

On-campus leadership enhancement programs, educational workshops, extra-curricular/recreational activities, historic, and leisure sites can also be enjoyed during your stay on campus.  Guests can experience active, physical endevours such as our outdoor challenge course, team-building opportunties, indoor rock-climbing wall, gym rental, field games, and Glen Arboretum nature trails.  They can also enjoy more relaxing, educational moments while visiting our Watson-King Planetarium, Cook Library archives, Center for the Arts galleries, historic campus locations, outdoor Commemorative Garden, fish ponds, streams, and indoor recreational lounge.  Whatever your interests or pursuits may be, Towson University will work hard with you to make it happen.

Towson University is easily accessible to all major interstates and is within a close commute to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.  Groups can also choose to include the option of using our campus shuttles to provide guests with airport transfers or the additional experience of an off-campus day trip.  A few nearby destinations that our guests enjoy include the beautiful Baltimore Inner Harbor, historic Fort McHenry, Annapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., local wineries, shopping outlets, amusement parks, museums, and professional sporting events.

Enjoy the opportunity to stay on our campus and choose from our eclectic mix of historical, mid-century or modern architure residences.  Each location provides your guests with a unique,  comfortable, and safe experience.  The buildings range from four-story halls to high-rise towers.  Options are available for traditional style floor plans to more spacious apartment style living.  All housing facilities are within easy walking distance to dining halls, on-campus meeting facilites and group activity areas.  The Glen Towers high-rise resident halls are located on core campus and close to the University Union.   The West Village resident halls are located on the non-academic side of campus and only a 10 minute scenic walk to core campus.

All resident halls are air-conditioned, equipped with free Wi-Fi, offer laundry facilities, vending machines and 24 hour front desk assistance.  Parking garages are within close proximity of all resident halls.

The West Village part of campus is located just 10 minutes from the core campus.  It contains new residence halls, dining facility, and Commons building.  Surrounded by beautiful landscape and quaint walkways, the West Village housing facilities provide guests with comfort, quality, and convience. 

Barton and Douglass Houses are located in the West Village area of campus.  Each air-conditioned room features two extra-long twin beds, a private bathroom and micro-fridge.  Each building includes a large multi-purpose room. A large lounge and smaller study areas are available on each floor for networking or relaxing. 

Carroll and Marshall Halls offer apartment style living at its best. Two and four bedroom apartments feature a double bed in each room and a private lock on each bedroom door. Each apartment includes a spacious combination living room/dining room and a modern kitchen with microwave, stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Guests need to bring their own pots, pans, dishes, and utensils.

Glen Towers is a high rise community and is located on core campus.  Each suite offers two bedrooms with extra-long twin beds, a sink and micro-fridge in each room.  Suite guests share an adjoining bathroom.  Each floor has a comfortable lounge for networking or reading,  Some towers offer an additional lounge on the main level.

West Village Ballrooms

The West Village Ballrooms are located on the fourth floor of the West Village Commons. Features include wall-to-wall carpeting and professional technology for your event needs. The Ballrooms are also equipped with floor-to-ceiling dividers, allowing the room to be split into three smaller rooms. The Ballroom can accommodate 300 seated at rounds and 600 theater style. Parking is available at the adjacent West Village Parking Garage.

PAWS event

Paws Café, located in the University Union building, features 20’ x 30’ stage, in-house lighting, carpeted floors, and a nightclub/festival atmosphere that accommodates up to 300 standing. Parking is available at the adjacent Union Garage.

South Campus Pavilion Reception

Beautiful enclosed pavilion with wood beams and entire room perimeter french doors/windows that provide a stunning view of local nature.  Temperature controlled HVAC, private restroom facilities, and onsite technical services.  Accomodates 200 in a theater format and 120 in reception rounds format.  Outdoor reception tent and patio available during Spring, Summer, and Fall for extended event options.  Parking in adjacent lots.

SECU Arena at Towson University is a 4,800-seat venue for athletics, sporting events, concerts, commencements and more. The 117,000-square-foot arena recieved the prestigious award of being LEED Gold certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, in addition to a variety of other sustainable features.

Conference, Meeting and Classrooms are available throughout our campus.  5 professional conference breakout rooms are in the West Village Commons and can accoodate up to 50 people each.  Our classrooms consist of multi-tier lecture style, flat level and meeting square formats.  Depending on the classroom, they can accomodate between 10-200 people.  Each space has integrated technology, wi-fi connectivity, phone and LAN lines. Parking is available at the adjacent garages.

University Union

The University Union is located in the center of campus.  It is being transformed with an 85,000 square foot addition and a complete renovation of the existing building.  The "Brand New U" will have expanded event space to include a 15,000 square-foot ballroom and multiple conference rooms.  Expected completion date is late Fall 2021.

In addition to our Chartwells traditional dining hall buffet experience, our Black & Gold Caterers can also provide guests with quality service and tantilizing menus.  The award-winning chefs, detail-oriented managers, and customer service professionals will work one-on-one with every client to ensure that their guests have the best food and beverage experience.  They can provide clients with original menus, state-of-the-art formal functions, corporate buffets, cocktail receptions, picnics, themed stations, and boxed lunches.
