Whether you are planning a Maryland retreat, conference, sporting event or summer camp, Towson University, near Baltimore, MD, offers a variety of lodging accommodations and recreational facilities including a stadium and a state-of-the-art arena. Our campus can accommodate small meeting groups to large scale groups up to 1,200 people for Baltimore, Maryland area meetings and conferences.

Our dedicated Maryland event planning managers are highly trained to anticipate your every need. Our professional technical staff will ensure that your program runs smoothly from beginning to end. Towson University is easily accessible from all major interstates and within an easy commute to BWI Marshall Thurgood Airport, Baltimore Inner Harbor, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.

Towson University’s 117,000 square foot SECU Arena opened in May 2013. It was immediately awarded LEED Gold Certification, for its innovative and efficient design. The facility is highly functional, aesthetically pleasing and 20 percent more efficient than comparable structures. SECU Arena is recognized for numerous sustainable initiatives including energy use, lighting, water and material use, and other sustainable features.

The university offers upscale low-rise residence halls located in the West Village Complex. Each air conditioned room features two extra-long twin beds with a private bathroom and micro-fridge. Additionally, there is a large lounge and smaller gathering areas on each level to network and relax.

These units are ideal for adults attending a conference. Parking is available in the West Village Garage.

 Located in the center of campus, the Glen Towers, a high rise complex offers air conditioned suites of two rooms joined by a connecting bathroom. All rooms are double occupancy and include two extra-long twin beds and a micro-fridge. A large lounge is located on each floor. The main dining hall is located in the Glen Tower Complex. Convenient parking is located in Lot 26 next to the Glen Tower Complex.

The West Village Ballroom is located on the fourth floor of the West Village Commons. Recently constructed, the room features wall-to-wall carpeting, and the most up-to-date technology for your sound and presentation needs. The Ballroom is also equipped with dividers, allowing the room to be split into three smaller rooms. The ballroom can accommodate 400 seated and 500 reception style. Parking is available at the adjacent West Village Parking Garage.

Paws Café, located in the University Union building, features 20’ x 30’ stage, in-house lighting, carpeted floors, and a nightclub/festival atmosphere and accommodates up to 300 standing. Parking is available at the adjacent Union Garage.

The University Union, located in the center of campus, offers 23,458 square footage of meeting space, including large banquet space such as the Chesapeake Room and Potomac Lounge as well as eight rooms that can accommodate smaller events.

The Chesapeake Room is located on the third floor of the University Union building and overlooks Glen Woods. The room features hardwood floors, window treatments, flexible lighting, built-in sound systems and screens, and an outdoor balcony and can accommodtae 342 seated and 500 reception style. The Chesapeake is also equipped with dividers, allowing the room to split into three smaller rooms. Parking is available at the adjacent Union Garage.

Quaint, old, carpeted rooms with fireplaces. Each room seats up to 15. Parking in adjacent lots.

 I think this is known as the Auburn House and is undergoing renovations in 2017. We may want to take this one out for now.

SECU Arena at Towson University is the new 5,200-seat venue for athletics, sporting events, concerts, commencements and more. The 117,000-square-foot arena opened in fall 2013. It was awarded LEED Gold certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, in addition to a variety of other sustainable features.

The Potomac Lounge is located on the second floor of the University Union building and features a parquet dance floor, new carpeting, fireplace, and a baby grand piano. The room can accommodate 286 seated and 400 reception style Parking is available at the adjacent Union Garage.

Services

Event and Conference Services intends to make each planner and attendee feel that their conference, camp or event is the most important, singular occurrence on campus.

What We Do
  • Reserve facilities for all non-academic programs
  • Coordinate meetings and event services for our students, faculty and staff
  • Provide a full complement of services, from weekly organizational meetings to annual signature events
  • Coordinate a full line of conference and event services with lodging space available between mid-June and the first week of August
  • Assign knowledgeable event managers with the ability to “think outside” to provide planners with creative suggestions to enhance their programs. Event managers are assigned to each function, from the beginning to the end, to ensure a smooth program
  • Handle all external inquiries including, but not limited to, conferences, banquets, commencements, high school graduations, summer camps, and sporting events
  • Set up events, including an assortment of tables, chairs, flags, and banners plus state-of-the-art technical, multi-media and audio-visual equipment
  • Employ university students to assist with conference set-ups, sporting events, and summer programs
