Sylvan Dale has long been a favorite destination for groups to come and experience team-building fun … and adventure!

Learn how to work together to move cattle through obstacle courses or cheer on your team-mates through one of our games on horseback. Further your team’s skills through our specialized join-up horse programs, or explore personal-growth programs and customized team development with our professional facilitation personnel and partners.

We'll introduce your group to trophy trout fishing, lead you on a trail ride, scale our cliffs or try your skill at trap shooting. Challenge your team to a game of tennis or horse-shoes, stretch the boundaries with activities on horseback and overnight pack trips.

Wind down from the day with a swim in our heated pool, order up a massage, relax beside the river, or sit by a campfire with S'mores.

Activities are optional...let us know what interests you we'll create a customized package to suit your needs and budget.  There’s no end to the options you can enjoy at Sylvan Dale!

HORSE ACTIVITIES FOR TEAM DEVELOPMENT:
Partner up with our registered Quarter Horses for unique team-development activities:

High Stakes Poker Ride

Three teams of 3 to 5 riders each. Name your team. Plan your strategy. Then, head out with clues in hand to find 5 different stations on the Ranch. Each location has a specified number of playing cards. Pick your card and ride to the next station. Once you have picked up a card at the last station, return to the barn. The group with the best poker hand wins! Try your hand with this unique team-building activity where fun is no gamble! (Basic riding skills required.) Approximately (2 hours) includes horse orientation.

Catch & Tack

An arena activity that builds confidence and requires focused team work. With halter in hand approach and halter a horse in an open arena. Tie, groom, and tack following the example of a brief demonstration. Attention, memory, and joint effort will be the key to getting the job done. Calm confidence will assure success! (No riding is involved in this activity)

Team Penning

Teams of 2 riders, total 6–8 people. The object is to cut a steer out from the rest of the herd and move into a designated enclosure. This sounds easier than it is. A little cow and horse psychology will help your score. Each team will have three to four rounds to see if they can improve their strategy and their time. Energizing, purposeful, and fun! (best success with intermediate to advanced riders) Approximately 2 hours, includes horse orientation.

Rock Climbing:
Bring a new perspective to climbing the company ladder! We provide certified instructors and all the gear. Grab your group and come experience the thrill of Sylvan Dale’s custom rock climbing course. A rising challenge for both beginners and experienced climbers that’s certain to lift spirits and elevate attitudes!

Trapshooting:
Focus – it’s a critical element for any team’s success. Trapshooting will test skills and improve marksmanship while providing a perfect analogy for the importance of staying on target. A guaranteed good time is in sight with this sure-fire activity!

White Water Rafting:
White water rafting is offered to our guests through our partner whitewater services provider. You will experience your white water adventure on the Lower Cache la Poudre River, Colorado's only National Wild & Scenic River. Your rafting trip will take you approximately 4.5 miles down river, over primarily Class II and Class III rapids (water flows vary, but the trip is considered intermediate to advanced intermediate in difficulty). Seasonal availability. Please ask your coordinator for more information.

"Hay" rides:
Bring your group for a relaxing and non-complicated horse-drawn wagon ride through our valley. Learn some history along the way. Finish off with a campfire and S'mores. Hayrides just seem to provide an ideal environment that encourages casual communication and infectious, good-hearted story-telling.

Fly Fishing:
Sylvan Dale's world renowned fishing draws folks from all over, to our waters! Both fly fishing and pond bait fishing are available. We offer catch and release fishing in the Big Valley Ponds which are home to rainbows, Donaldson steelhead, and browns. Trout range from 15 to 30 inches (up to 12 pounds). Catch and keep fishing is available on the Rainbow Lake. Relax and enjoy the beauty of our waters, or we will help you design a more competitive experience. Our experienced guides and personnel will add to your fishing experience. Take back some great fish-tales!

Campfires:
Some of life’s best conversations take place around the campfire. With several nice fire-pits located around the Ranch you’re sure to find one to fan the flames of fun! Enhance your groups enjoyment with a hot beverage and S’mores.

"A great way to connect: I visited Sylvan Dale with co workers, we had the place to ourselves and just really had an incredible stay. The staff is friendly, the food was great and I loved that it is a Green (eco-friendly) Resort. This is a great place for a corporate retreat, a place to get away from TV, Laptops and Blackberrys for a week or so. How nice to be able connect with nature and fellow coworkers around the country. Instead of retreating to a bar or our rooms for TV, we hung out int he bunkhouse or around the fire. It was great. I am thinking about bringing my family back for a weekend trip.

“Southern hospitality met with Western values made Sylvan Dale an excellent venue for our corporate retreat. The setting of the river combined with the meeting space was just what our team needed to break away from our traditional thinking. Our management team was able to connect at a personal level at the riverside campfire at night. We will definitely be back.”
