About OpenGov Hub

The Open Gov Hub is a co-working community in Washington, D.C. and a network of organizations promoting transparency, accountability, and civic engagement around the world.
The 20,000 square foot "Hub" is the physical home of over 45 organizations promoting these open government ("Open Gov") reforms through technology, research, media, and advocacy.

We rent out our event space, as well as large conference rooms at very competitive rates to help similar difference-makers host excellent and exciting events. Our goal is to take the stress out of the logistics so that you can focus on the content of your event and make it as successful as possible! 

Here's some basic information about our space:
All rooms are entirely all-inclusive. High-speed wifi, full A/V with up to 6 large flat-screens for presentations, wireless mics with in-ceiling speakers, whiteboards, flipcharts, markers, and mounted cameras for videoconferencing are all included. The event space includes an icemaker, filtered hot/cold water, and, unlike many places, there are no restrictions on alcoholic beverages meaning a server is not required. 

There are four main components of the event space: 
Manila Room (capacity 40) - 3 TVs, 2 cameras for videoconferencing, large whiteboard, flexible arrangement
Sydney Room (capacity 40) - 2TVs, camera for videoconferencing, large whiteboard, flexible arrangement
Breakout Areas - 2 large whiteboards, flexible and open arrangement, space for up to 5 breakouts
Kitchen - 2 stainless-steel refrigerators, 2 microwaves, icemaker, bar island for catering displays
There is also a built-in registration area, arrow signs for guests, 2 call/coat rooms, and even a ping-pong table! 

The space can be arranged in many different ways to accommodate a variety of events (e.g. presentations, workshops, trainings, conferences, happy hours, etc.). The Manila Room and Sydney Room can be reserved separately or together for larger events. The maximum event space capacity is 125 standing/90 seated.

Our two large meeting rooms can seat up to 20 and also come equipped with technology to support videoconferencing. They can be rented individually, and sometimes can be rented for extra breakout space.

We have a spacious kitchen available for your use with two large refrigerators, two microwaves, and two large sinks. You are more than welcome to offer catering or order food for your event or meeting. We do not have any restrictions on alcoholic beverages, meaning you do not have to hire a caterer or server. The Hub staff does not do any of the ordering or setup for the food.

In our large event space (Sydney and Manila), we have six TVs that can show different displays if needed. We have two 50”, two 70”, and two 80” TVs. The four largest TVs have Apple Mac Minis and HDMI or USB hookups. There's no need to bring your computer (unless you prefer to), as we have several fully functioning Mac computers hooked up to our TVs. We also have a 50” TV in the breakout area right outside the event space, so if there is overflow your guests can still follow the event. Our large event space also comes equipped with microphones, which includes handheld and desktop microphones. For videoconferencing, we have a tabletop two-way speaker, as well as video cameras mounted on our larger TVs.

Our larger meeting rooms come equipped with wired & wireless presentation systems, 70” TV, a mounted video camera, and a tabletop two-way speaker.

We have free (and fast!) Wifi available throughout our space.
