Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA is the antidote to the big university conference experience. Our friendly 120-acre campus has everything you need: A beautiful park-like setting, small town atmosphere, personalized attention, and unparalleled service.

We accommodate the following:

  • Residential adult programs and youth camps, from 25 – 400 people (5-night minimum / summer only)
  • Weddings and private social events (year round)
  • Due to our small campus size and high internal demand for space, we are generally unable to accommodate other rental requests.

The Marketplace
The Marketplace offers a unique, upscale dining experience for guests. Seven stations offer pasta, “Homestyle” entrées, grilled items, sandwiches, soup, salads, and baked goods daily, plus an ever-changing selection of specialty menu items such as wood-fired pizza and regional dishes. Vegetarian and vegan selections are always available. Marketplace meals are included in residential Room & Board plans, and can also be purchased a la carte for day campers or guests.

Erdman Hall
Historic Erdman Hall was designed in 1927 by famed Rose Bowl architect Myron Hunt, and reflects the Spanish revival style seen throughout the Occidental College campus. Period details include hardwood floors, French doors, and wrought iron balconies. Erdman Hall has played host to numerous Hollywood films, television shows, and commercials. Guest rooms have hardwood floors. The hall is a short walk from dining, classroom, and meeting facilities.

Newcomb Hall
Newcomb Hall is conveniently located in the lower campus area near the Marketplace dining facility, classrooms, and meeting areas. The building is fully air conditioned, and features a large lounge for gathering, programming, and recreation. Guest rooms are carpeted.

E. Norris Hall
E. Norris Hall consists of 4 color-coded towers: Blue, Yellow, Orange, and Green. Residents share a large lounge in the Orange tower. The building layout is “quad style” with 4 rooms per quad. Each quad shares a common bathroom, living area and outdoor deck. Norris is located on upper campus, and is not handicapped accessible. Rooms in Norris Hall enjoy sweeping views of the campus and surrounding hillside neighborhoods.

Haines Hall
Haines Hall was home to Barack Obama during his Occidental College student days. Designed by Rose Bowl architect Myron Hunt, the building retains its original 1940s Spanish-revival character with its tiled roof, graceful arches, and charming lounge area. Guest rooms feature hardwood or linoleum floors and sinks. Haines Hall is located near dining, classroom and meeting facilities.

Wylie Hall
Built in 1940, Wylie Hall was the last structure designed by Oxy's original architect, Myron Hunt. The residence hall has subtle Spanish revival styling, and boasts a convenient lower campus location close to dining, classroom, and meeting facilities. The building is fully air conditioned and has newly renovated bathrooms. Guest rooms have linoleum floors.

Braun Hall
Nestled into a hillside, Braun Hall has 3 floors and includes an extra large lounge area for gatherings, programming, or recreational use. A large patio flanks the north side of the building and overlooks the rustic Sycamore Glen picnic area.

Stearns Hall is dramatically sited on the hillside between upper and lower campus. The building has 4 floors accessible via elevator. An airy 2-story lounge provides generous gathering space; a second lounge on the mezzanine level overlooks the main lounge area.

Berkus Hall
Newly constructed Berkus Hall opened in Spring 2008. This hotel-style facility blends historic styling with modern amenities. Oxy’s historic Spanish Revival architecture is reflected here in open courtyards, covered loggias, and tile rooftops, and the hillside setting lends a quintessential “California” feel to the site. Guest rooms include private baths. Convenient on-site classrooms and parking make it possible to create a one-stop destination for your program.

Stewart-Cleland Hall
Nicknamed “Stewie” by the Occidental College community, Stewart-Cleland Hall offers sweeping views of the campus and surrounding hillsides. Its flexible "U" shaped layout enables separation of residents by wing or floor. The hall is fronted by a large lawn affectionately referred to as "Stewie Beach" by Oxy students.

Conference groups can reserve access to the swimming pool with a lifeguard on duty, basketball courts, and athletic fields with an on-site athletic coordinator. Individual guests can pay for a guest pass to use our fully equipped gym.

When our office is closed, guests will always have access to speak to one of our staff members through our on-call number for emergencies.

Our campus safety department is on campus 24/7 to provide all guests with protection from possible dangers, support in case of emergency, and to secure the well-being of the campus as a whole.
